Yes we Pep
The above title is in reference to Pep Guardiola, coach for FCB, a genius who knew how to get the best out of the team. Barcelona has not, and will not anytime soon, halt the celebrations for their triplet year. Triplet for the League, Copa del Rey and Champions league in a row. And no I will not go into the Final Game with Man Unite other than three simple questions.
1: Did Ronaldo Play? I didn’t see him except when creating fouls and a couple of shots in the first three minutes. Where was the Best Player in the world? Did he think he was playing against an ordinary team? Can he do any other thing than shoot hard from afar?
2: What happens to the Heir Prince of Britain, he was there all smiles in the beginning and MIA after the first goal.
3: Does Berlusconi have any shame at all? Did you see him dozing off like a drunken homeless? What the hell is on this guys mind?
I know that football (soccer for the ignorant) is the opium of masses, and I am a little embarrassed to feel so happy for this team. However it is on their benefit that Barça has used a very humble formula to get where they are. For one, check your local teams shirt. It is probably full of publicity everywhere, front, back, and sleeves. Now go to the net and search for Barças shirt. You will only find one (other than a small swoosh from Nike) UNICEF, and the team pays them to wear it and sponsors projects around the world. So there you have one of the ways Barça works better than any other team. It also bets most its eggs on local players, like Iniesta, Xavi, Puyol, Valdes, Messi (yes Messi, he came here with 11 years and has grown up with the team and the city), Piquer, and Busquets. Most of he foreign players are here not only for the money but for status; See Henry, Eto´o, Abidal, Alves and Gudjohanssen. These players can choose any team for any money and they choose to stay.
I live one block away from the Camp Nou and come across the players very often while driving by on my way to work. In many occasions I have lowered my window to say hello to Eto´o, Henry, Valdes and Puyol and I must tell you that they look and act very cool, humble and clean. Yeah yeah I know they make millions, but at least they win, other make millions and loose.
In any case, the celebrations have been going on for 26 hours non-stop and it doesn’t look like it will end anytime soon, it is affecting my judgment.
