The empire strikes back

If anyone still doubts that Spain is indeed different from the rest of the world, check this out.
Remember Garzon? He was the guy who put Pinochet in a bit of a mess while the dictator was in London enjoying a little break from his day-to-day repression in Chile. Mr. Garzon is a sort of a legend within the annals of International Law. However when he decides to seek into the crimes committed during Spanish Civil War he is not only obstructed to do so, but also sued by the Supreme Court of the Land. Now here is the Catch; Mr. Juan Saveedra, who is also founder of Manos Limpias, an extreme right association who presented the case against Garzon, heads -The Supreme Court.
Now, I am a little bit worried about this. Let me put it in different terms so that people from outside Spain can understand. The higher authority of the law in Spain is the chief of a bunch of Neo Nazis with democratic masks who are preventing an honest Judge from investigating the thousands upon thousands of murders committed during and after the war.
Every freaking nation with a little civilization has closed most of the chapters pertaining to wars and inner conflicts. Spain has not and refuses to do so. The excuse given by Manos Limpias is simply that Mr. Garzon has no competence in such matters. The right parties of Spain complain and bitch every time the victims of the war issues comes up saying that Spain needs not open old wounds. Here is another Catch; - The right wing party in Spain Partido Popular (PP) was founded by the remainder fascist from Francos Government, more specifically by Manuel Fraga who was Minister of censorship and tourism for Franco and is now, thank god, a decrepit piece of rotting meat unable to say one understandable word. May he die in a pile of shit and vomit in front of his peers.
On the other hand there is the Church, Francos´ greatest supporters. Still untouchable when it is widely known that thanks to the church inner information (information received during confession) gave place to thousands of detentions and consecutive tortures and disappearances. Plus hundreds of illegal adoptions of kids kidnapped from resenting parents who did not agree with the government. These murderous bastards are now manifesting against the law of Abortion recently installed claiming that Abortion is worse than abusing kids. They should know that from all the years of raping, touching and traumatizing kids all over the world.
And people still go to church? Are we stupid or Masochists? Do we still listen to this drunken baby fondlers mother fuckers for any advice on Moral? Most of us do, thus the shape of the world today.
My advice is to start thinking properly. Forget the so needed father figure we all seek to take responsibilities for our action. Gather enough strength and from the bottom of our hearts search what is wrong. If by any chance while looking into yourself, you find hate and justifications for all this shit, just kill yourself.

now hold on ..... the church signifies a lot more to the common church goer than a father figure. And yes, over centuries the church has become more political and murderous than it was ever intended to be. But like so many things, this is not what it represents to the common church goer. Having something to believe in is what most humans seek. You with your Buddhism, scientists with science. Saying that all priest are baby fondle'rs is like saying all gay men like little boys. It just isn't true. Pedophiles are both men & women, never touching the word gay. I don't particularly like the church or the vatican, but I'm tired of listening to the same crap come out of people's mouths when they talk about the roman catholic church. Enough already. Maybe not enough good has come from them to came anywhere near their atrocities, but we all need to believe in something, like you with Buddha, we are human and so are they. We are murderous by nature, we are hunters and killers. Its in our genes. I'm by no means trying to justify them, simply trying to get across to you that enough of this religious hatred and try and improve yourself so you may help others and by doing this you will contribute more to someone's happiness than this continual tirade against established religion. Attack individuals all you want ..... but enough already!

Improve yourself? With Religion? you must be kiding me. Besides this blog was not against religion itself (I do this in other essays) but if you want I can fall into it. First of all, Buddhism has not killed or maimed anyone, second of all it is not a religion and third you wanna seek god do it in the privacy of your own home and not with our taxes. Murderous by nature meaning it is ok to kill in the name of god?
If you wann belive in something believe in yourself or the good you can do, and you not need religion for this.
If your tired of listening to crap from peoples mouth, maybeyou should read more about your religion and see that they may not be completely wrong.
It is not that going against relgion will make people happy, it is religion in many cases that prevent people from being happy. Do a little research and be objective.

This is like reading the Daily Mail!!! Not sure you piece is too objective either Danny

Last anonymous: indeed. Being an atheist, I do generally subscribe to Marx's point of view that religion is opium for the people. A sort of escape from reality. Now escapism of any sort does not appeal to me (with the exception of exercising your intellect, imagination and fantasy, no supernatural or chemical aids required), but it only takes one look around you to see that most people seem to need getting away from life as it is sometimes. (Even you, Danny). If you can do that through religion, without harming yourself or anyone else (that's the golden rule!!), I would say go ahead. Also, the Christian principles of love, compassion and generosity are pretty universal values... or at least, they should be. So, IF people practice what they preach, whether they believe in god or not becomes irrelevant.
Furthermore, being Chilean, I am aware that, thankfully, even the church is not always that monolythic. During the military dictatorship here, part of the church was firmly behind Pinochet, but another important part devoted itself to helping the victims of repression and trying to defend human rights to the best of its ability.
Which brings me to the main point of your post. I wish we could all point a finger at Spain and say "shame on you for refusing to deal with your brutal past", but unfortunately the tendency to bury our heads in the sand is just as common in my own country, and in many others. It's such a painful and depressing subject, because this voluntary blindness just shows that the attitudes that CAUSED the atrocities haven't changed, and so who's to say that it can't happen all over again?...
It may be true that brutality lurks in every single one of us... But the thing to remember is that we all have a choice to do our best, not our worst. If you find a way to do this, I don't care what your way is: you're my brother or sister.

All you anonymous out there, you are all right, at least in some points. Indeed Most religions call for love and compassion, unfortunately none of them do practice it. If you say that some part of the church was against Pinochet it was people who went against orders, it was real POEPLE regardless of their believes these are good people, but when Pope John went to Chile to Bless Pinocho and his family then it is another story altogether, when ratzinger and his friends signed up for the Nazi youths, or supported Mussolini and Franco or commited the biggest atrocities in Rwanda and continued to support Bothas government in South Africa, then my anomymous friends we have a problem.
First of all, Christians say they follow Jesus words which is entirely untrue, if they only had tow more working neurons they would know that waht we have a Christianhip is indeed the message of St Paul, an esquizophrenic nuts with tremeondous hunger for power. Then it went to the hands of Roman emperor Constantinoupol (Nicae), and from then on you name it. It only takes a few google searches to know were it all comes from, So don´t give me that bullshit of understanding and compassion, there is none whatsoever, and if you or anyone follows it then you are bieng simply ignorant and manageable. If you want to follow Jesus words, read more, find out, study, investigate don´t put your heart to blind faith.
You´d be surprised that I trully believe in Jesus, the real one, the one that touches my heart and say things I feel inside myself as mine, not the bullshit priest spit from their piehole.Don´t oofend Jesus by mixing it up with htis rapist fascists.. However If you seek an escape goat or a father figure then carry on.
Atrocities have mostly happened due to religions, actually if could tell me one, just ONE war that had not religion involved I´d be surprised. Even Chile had a religious touch, being Allende a Marxist his support on the church was not enough to suit the churches taste.
Here are things Christianism has done, just a small list.

Women
Children
Rape
Inquisition
Colonization
murder
torture
Chile
Argentina
Rwanda
The Balcans
Paraguay
Spain
El Salvador
Italy
Greece
Nazis
Fascists
KKK
Legionaries of Christ
Creationism

Hell, they only exonerated Galileo Galilei in 1997, more than 500 years after they locked him up. If it were for religion we would still believe in Adam en Eve and the earth ebing the center of the Universe.

Uffff, I am tired but there is plenty more.
You wanna find Jesus, find him in your heart not in a church.
About the essays issue, I think that until we call things the way they are and stop this psuedo respect for ones anothers bullshit it will continue to be a crappy world.
Sorry for the crudeness.
As Bill Hicks said once, ïf you are Chritian, I am sorry. Not for what I said, but I am sorry for you being a Christian.

(from the same atheist friend)

Danny, almost everything you're saying has some truth in it, but it's expressed with such anger that it becomes irrational, unfair and... useless..., both for your own spiritual good and for the purposes of trying to either communicate effectively or to change anything. Don't get me wrong, anger is good, but only if we control it, and not the other way round. And also if we can pt it to some positive use (if that makes any sense?!?)
"Pseudo respect"?... No such thing my dear friend, respect must be given where it is due, and sometimes it is due in unexpected places. And: an atrocity is an atrocity no matter who commits it, and indeed it must be (at the very least) denounced as such. But (correct me if I'm wrong), doesn't the Dalai Lama himself say that our enemy should be our best teacher of tolerance?...

Danny Valls said...

You got me there, true our enemy must be our best teacher. True. You see, I was right five years ago when I started this blog and said that rather than me teaching I would end up learning from m readers.
I am open, and in person I tend to be much more tolerant and open to discussion.
Onthe other hand I find all this completely useless if there is no true knoledge of what is behind it all. Priests teaching us about morals and raping kids on their free time. ANd other things.
However, most of you anonymous have forgottent the real issue of the essay. But I understand.
